Minister Hoxhaj visits Croatia, where is confirmed the bilateral and regional partnership between the two countries

Zagreb, 20 February 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj is staying on a two day visit to Croatia where he was received with the highest state honours.

Minister Hoxhaj met the highest institutional heads of Croatia, such as President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Davor Ivo Stier.

In separate meetings, Hoxhaj has raised the need for further deepening of excellent political relations and opening of a new chapter of cooperation in economy, trade, security, Euro-Atlantic integration and other specific sectors from which the new Republic of Kosovo can benefit a lot from Croatia.

Hoxhaj in the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Stier, agreed to have regular consultations and coordination not only regarding bilateral matters but also regional matters, since Croatia is an important regional partner for Kosovo.

“Croatia is an important bilateral partner for Kosovo and I discussed with my colleagues in Zagreb about deepening of our political relations and economic cooperation, by organizing in the future a joint forum of investment and trade in Prishtina. Also, Croatia is a regional partner in Southeast Europe and the topics of security, peace and stability in our region have been part of our exchanges. Croatia as a member of EU and NATO will be a strong supporter for the European future of Kosovo, but also regarding the implementation of a new relation with NATO, which we have established since December last year", stated Hoxhaj.

Ministers Hoxhaj and Stier have held a press conference where they talked about the region and the recent situation created after the provocations of Serbia. Hoxhaj said that Kosovo is relied on Croatia so jointly we can have a role in opposing Serbia's aggressive behaviour and to prevent the return of old schemes of Serbian domination in the region.

Hoxhaj also met the Minister of Defence, Damir Krstičević with whom he discussed regarding the cooperation between the two countries in the field of security.
