Qatar recognized the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtina, 7 January 2010 – The State of Qatar recognized independency of Kosovo and issued document on establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The letter of recognition, sent by Prime Minister and also Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al-Thani, explains that, after having voted in favor of Kosovo’s membership to the World Bank, and after having recognized passports issued by the Government of Kosovo, the State of Qatar went on to make this particular decision, whereby authorizing Permanent Representative of Qatar in New York to announce the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The act on establishment of diplomatic relations between Kosovo and Qatar was signed by Representative of the Republic of Kosovo in New York, Consul-General Arta Rama.

Endorsement of this decision of Qatar is the 73rd recognition of the independent state of Kosovo.
