Republic of Malawi recognizes Kosovo as independent and sovereign state

Prishtina, 16 December 2009 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo has been informed today, through a verbal note forwarded from the permanent mission of the Republic of Malawi in UN through the General Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York, that the Republic of Malawi decided on 14 December 2009 to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.

The verbal note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi also says that there will follow a formal exchange between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malawi, Eta E. Banda and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Skender Hyseni, in accordance with the recognition act.

The Republic of Malawi is the 64th state to recognize the Republic of Kosovo and is located in Southern Africa.
