Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pacolli meets the EU High Representative Mogherini, urges acceleration of visa liberalization

Brussels, 29 September 2017 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, said to the chief of the European Union diplomacy, Federica Mogherini that "visa liberalization is the decisive step that needs to be done now because it strongly influences the perspective of young people in Kosovo who are well-educated, open-minded and are for a Kosovo with a new European spirit".

On her behalf, the EU High Representative, Ms. Mogherini shared the same assessment for Kosovo youth and society, pointing out that the second year of the mandate of this Commission will be crucial for the European integration of the region and Kosovo, and why not in particular for the issue of visa liberalization.

In the light of the meeting was discussed also about the new phase of dialogue for full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. With regard to this issue, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, has reaffirmed the commitment of the institutions of Republic of Kosovo for dialogue, considering that it is very important to have a timeframe, whereas Ms. Mogherini, has requested a pledge from the Kosovo side to implement the agreements that were reached until now.

The general European perspective of our country and the countries of the region; realization of internal reforms of the countries that aim membership; good neighbourly relations and regional co-operation such as that of the Berlin Process have been other topics discussed during this meeting.

The visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, in Brussels is the first one since he assumed his official duty. During his stay in Brussels, he also met other senior EU officials from the European Parliament, European Commission and was hosted at NATO's headquarters by Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller.
