Mr. Hoxhaj meets Albanians in Croatia: Historical ties between our countries should strengthen

Zagreb, 21 February 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj continued his visit on the second day of his stay in Croatia, where he met representatives of the Albanian community there and the only Albanian MP in the Croatian Parliament, Ermina Lekaj Prljaska and he held a lecture.

Mr. Hoxhaj spoke to a number of selected students from science, civil society, and diplomacy, about the exceptional political relations that exist between Kosovo and Croatia, and the fact that there is a historical link between the two societies.

As an example, he mentioned the Kosovo Albanian and Croatian communities living in both respective countries who have strengthened this special relation between the two Balkan countries.

“Whenever I am in Croatia, I have a strong feeling of the special relations that have not only been present between the countries but also between our societies. These are also historical links. At various times, we have given much to each other and I do no doubt that this will always continue. Today more than ever, we need even greater intensification of relations at all levels between Kosovo and Croatia” said Mr. Hoxhaj in the lecture organized by the European Movement Croatia and the Diplomatic Academy.

Later, the Chief Diplomat Hoxhaj met the Albanian deputy in Croatia, Lekaj Prljaska whom he thanked for the representation of Albanians in this country.

He also met with representatives of the Albanian community living and working in Croatia whom he asked to strengthen the relations between the two countries and societies.

Prior to that day, Mr. Hoxhaj met senior institutional leaders of Croatia, such as the President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovicć, the Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, the Foreign Minister Davor Ivo Stier and the Defence Minister, Damir Krstičević.
