Jerusalem, 11 May 2022 - Minister Gërvalla concludes her visit to Israel by meeting with representatives of Parliament

As part of her bilateral visit to Israel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, visited the Israeli parliament yesterday, where she met with various representatives of the Knesset.

During the meeting with Mr. Ram Ben Barak, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, Minister Gërvalla underlined the special nature of the relations between Israel and Kosovo and made a description of the opportunities and the need for their further expansion and deepening in the future. Special emphasis was placed during the conversation on the geopolitical challenges created from the Russian war in Ukraine and the risk of destabilization of the Western Balkans.


Minister Gërvalla also met with Zeev Elkin, Minister of Jerusalem and Heritage. They have discussed better and more effective inclusion of different generations of the diaspora. Minister Gërvalla stressed that Kosovo can benefit greatly from Israel's long and impressive experience in this field.

Minister Gërvalla also met with Mr. Ali Salalha, Chairman of the Israel-Kosovo Friendship Group. On this occasion, Minister Gërvalla stressed the need for closer parliamentary cooperation between the Knesset and the Assembly of Kosovo.


The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo ended the day with a reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Jerusalem, which was attended by various representatives of the Israeli economy and society, as well as representatives of the Albanian diaspora in Israel.


The representative of the Republic of Kosovo in Israel, Ms. Ines Demiri, during her welcoming speech highlighted in particular the very friendly spirit of relations between Israel and Kosovo and stressed the great potential for future cooperation.


During the three-day visit to Israel, the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo was accompanied by the Israeli Ambassador to Kosovo, Ms. Tamin Ziv and the director for the Balkans at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dani Oryan.

At the end of the visit to Israel, the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo visited the historical and archeological centers of Jerusalem. From Israel, Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla traveled to Brussels and tonight, she will attend the dinner hosted by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, with the Heads of States of the Western Balkans.
