Lajcák confirms to Minister Hoxhaj the Slovak recognition of Kosovo passports

Prishtina, July 20, 2012 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj today received the official confirmation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak, on the decision of the Government of Slovakia to fully recognize passports of the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, Minister Hoxhaj thanked minister Lajcák and the Government of Slovakia for the decision that will facilitate free movement of Kosovo citizens in the Schengen area.

Henceforth, the citizens of Kosovo who possess Schengen visa will also be able to travel to Slovakia.

This decision comes at a time when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo has increased its efforts to persuade the five European Union countries to join as soon as possible with the rest of the EU to recognize Kosovo's independence.
