During the meeting, they discussed political developments in Kosovo and the region, bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Germany, and the European prospects of the Republic of Kosovo.

Minister Hoxhaj informed the German deputies about the reforms being undertaken by the Kosovo Government, continual progress in all spheres of life and other aspects of Kosovo’s development.

Hoxhaj emphasized that Kosovo is working hard to consolidate its statehood and to continually strengthen the international subjectivity of the state.

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister re-emphasized the will of Kosovar institutions to strengthen cooperation in all areas with Germany, as one of the Republic of Kosovo’s strategic partners.

He thanked the German parliamentarians for Germany’s extraordinary contribution to Kosovo at all times, thanking them especially for Berlin’s support with regard to concrete steps for Kosovo’s integration in the European Union.

In addition, Hoxhaj thanked Germany for its support for the most recent decision of the EU to give Kosovo a roadmap for visa liberalization, assessing this as a new phase of reconfirming Kosovo’s European perspective.

Talking about recent developments in the north of Kosovo, Minister Hoxhaj condemned the violence which occurred on Friday in the north, re-emphasizing the commitment of Kosovo’s institutions, in coordination with international friends, to work to stabilize the situation and return the normality undermined by Serb criminal structures in that part of the Republic of Kosovo.

The leader of the German Parliamentarians’ delegation, Peter Weiss (CDU /CSU) stressed German support for the democratic state of Kosovo and its integration in the EU and NATO.

Weiss positively assessed the EU’s decision to launch a roadmap for visa liberalization for Kosovo’s citizens, expressing his conviction that Kosovo’s institutions would successfully fulfill the criteria and standards required by the roadmap.
