The Government of Kosovo provides financial aid after the earthquake in Italy

Prishtina, 30 May 2012 – On the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, the Government of Kosovo issued a decision to allocate twenty thousand Euros aid on the occasion of the earthquake in the Republic of Kosovo.

The decision has been made at the meeting of the governmental cabinet, held on Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi.

At the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, proposed allocating the amount of twenty thousand Euros  of aid to the Government and citizens of Italy, subsequent to the earthquake that occurred in the north of Italy, killing 17 people.

Highlighting the fact that the Republic of Kosovo has excellent relationship with Italy, Hoxhaj stated that on behalf of the government, he has conveyed the most sincere condolences to the Foreign Minister of Italy, Guilio Terzi.

The Minister Hoxhaj also acknowledged that it would be good if the Government of Kosovo provided an aid of twenty thousand Euros in assisting our friend country to surmount the situation. .

“MFA has this amount available and this would be a symbolic decision of our sympathy and support”, said  Minister Hoxhaj.

The proposal of the Minister Hoxhaj was approved by the governmental cabinet.

One day ago, few hours after the serious earthquake occurred in the northern part of the Republic of Italy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, sent a telegram of condolences to his Italian counterpart, Giulio Terzi.

In the telegram, the Minister Hoxhaj  expressed the deep sorrow of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kosovo, for the victims and the injured of the powerful earthquake struck Italy.

An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude  struck Italy on Tuesday about nine o’clock in the morning, roughly 40 kilometers in north-east of Bologna city.

International media reported that this earthquake has caused at least 17 victims hitherto.
