Ambassador Peci meets the President of the Assembly of Latvia

Riga, 8 May 2012 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Sweden, non-resident Ambassador to Letonia, Lulzim Peci, was received in a special event by Solvita Aboltina, President of the Assembly of Latvia.

President Aboltina expressed her satisfaction of welcoming the first ambassador of Kosovo and emphasized that Latvia pays great importance to freedom, independence and security, which are European values, and for that reason, it supports Kosovo’s independence and its integration into the European Union.

She further assured Ambassador Peci that Latvia supports visa liberalization for Kosovo and that Prishtina can count on Riga’s support.

President Aboltina deemed that bilateral relations between Latvia and Kosovo as very good and stressed that now it the time to establish strong relations between our two countries, including the overall inter-parliamentarian cooperation.

Ambassador Lulzim Peci conveyed to President Aboltina the salutes of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Jakup Krasniqi, and his desire in strengthening relations between the two assemblies.

He also underscored that the European agenda is of priority for Kosovo and that there is no other alternative.

Ambassador Peci emphasized that Kosovo has proven itself as a stable country and a functional multiethnic democracy and that the Assembly of Kosovo sets the example for the region with respect to gender and minority community representation. 

At the end of the meeting, President Aboltina wished Ambassador Peci much success on his mission.

Ambassador Peci assured President Aboltina that he would do everything he can within his competencies in strengthening the cooperation between Kosovo and Latvia in all areas placing a special commitment in the parliamentarian cooperation between our two friend countries.
