“This arrest contains purely political motivations and aims to cause insecurity among the Kosovo citizens who transit through this neighboring state. This arbitrary arrest is a continuation of previous arrests made by the Serbian authorities against citizens of the Republic of Kosovo only few months following the free movement agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, under the technical dialogue facilitated by European Union”, is stated in this letter.

Through this letter, minister Hoxhaj called the international community and EU to exert pressure on the Serbian authorities in order to immediately release  Haxhi Kastrati and to enable the freedom of movement for all citizens.

Haxhi Kastrati, 34 years old, from village of Zatriq of the Rahovec Municipality, was arrested on Thursday around 04.00 a.m. as soon as he had entered the Serbian territory, as he had been travelling from Austria to his homeland along with his wife and two children.
