Deputy Minister Selimi invited to deliver a speech at the Global Security Forum in Bratislava

Bratislava, 15 April 2012 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Petrit Selimi is currently on a visit to Slovakia on the invitation of the Global Security Forum in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Deputy Minister Selimi was the main speaker for the session titled “Kosovo’s Perspective in the context of European architecture of security of politics” in front of dozens of diplomats and experts, including senior representatives of states who have not recognized Kosovo.

The experienced Hunagrian diplomat, Istvan Gyurmati, President of the Public Democracy Fund, moderated the session. On his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Selimi spoke of the recent months’ processes, the negotiations process that is paused due to the lack of good will from Belgrade in order to conclude the open chapters between the two states.

Deputy Minister Selimi emphasized Serbia’s scandalous arrests of Kosovar Trade Union activists.

In the context of “Globsec” conference which gathered over 500 leaders this year, diplomats and foreign policy experts from all around the world, Deputy Minister Selimi also had meeting with the Political Director of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Michalko.

During the meeting with the senior Slovak diplomat, they discussed matters related to the political progress of European integrations. Mr. Michalko confirmed that the state of Slovakia supports Kosovo’s European perspective and encouraged Kosovar authorities to continue the cooperation with the EU as the fastest way of normalizing relations in the Balkans.

Deputy Minister Selimi  also met with Norway’s Minister of Defence, Espen Barth Eide as well as with many ministers, diplomats and experts and particularly focusing on meetings with representatives of the EU and North African states that have not yet recognized Kosovo.
