“There are countless reasons why August 1, the National Day of the Helvetic State should be celebrated everywhere in Kosovo. Those reasons are the development of excellent relations at the interstate level; the strong ties between our two peoples to the ever-increasing economic cooperation, mutual investments in culture, sports and other fields. The Helvetic State was the first address to Kosovo citizens in the toughest times for our people. It opened the doors and sheltered many refugees during the war in Kosovo, it helped rebuild and develop the country and the state-building process. Moreover, Switzerland was the first state to have mentioned and formally proposed to the United Nations Security Council Independence for Kosovo as a viable solution. We will be forever grateful for everything you have done for our people and country and we take this opportunity on your National Day to wish you a lasting peace, long-term security and continued prosperity for your people and your country. said Kosovo's chief diplomat, Pacolli.
