Hoxhaj meets EU Director for the Balkans – the future of the region is in the EU

Prishtina, April 28, 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj has met today with the EU Director for Western Europe, Western Balkans and Turkey, Angelina Eichhorst.

While thanking for the support, Hoxhaj during the meeting with Eichhorst once again confirmed Kosovo’s commitment towards Euro-Atlantic integration. During the meeting, Hoxhaj and Eichhorst discussed about the Reform Agenda and the next steps that Kosovo should undertake for its implementation as the next step towards approach with the EU.

“Kosovo’s orientation towards EU membership is steadfast and is a priority of the Government of Kosovo. Kosovo has made progress in several fields, and with the opening of the agenda for European Reform, has opened the path on taking new state decisions, which will bring Kosovo closer to the European Union, which is also the future of the region”, said Hoxhaj.

Both sides have discussed developments in the country and in the region, as well as the dialogue with Serbia, where was emphasized the need for its continuation as the only way to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

Minister Hoxhaj said that despite Serbia’s aggressive behavior towards Kosovo, Kosovo remains committed in normalizing relations with the neighboring state through EU mediated dialogue.
