The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, paid an official visit to Kuwait today, where she met with the highest state heads of this country. In the framework of this visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Kosovo and Kuwait.
Meeting with the Deputy Emir, Crown Prince, Mr Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah
Minister Gërvalla first thanked the Deputy Emir for the warm hospitality of Kuwait and for the continued support given to Kosovo in consolidating its international position, as well as for the assistance provided in various fields for the development of Kosovo.
Highlighting the appropriate political environment and opportunities offered by Kosovo for business investments by the state of Kuwait, Gërvalla stressed that Kosovo has a very young, well-educated population who are prepared for the labour market, which creates opportunities for business development.
His Excellency, the Deputy Emir, assured the continuation of Kuwait's political and economic support for Kosovo. On her part, Minister Gërvalla invited His Excellency to visit Kosovo.
Meeting with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Mr Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, in the framework of the agenda, also met and talked with the Prime Minister of Kuwait. During this conversation, various aspects of political and economic cooperation between Kosovo and Kuwait were discussed. The parties pledged to deepen and expand this cooperation in the future.
Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah
During her official visit to Kuwait, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, held an intense conversation with her Kuwaiti counterpart. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the field of diplomacy.
During the ceremony of signing the Memorandum in the General Diwan Hall, both parties stressed the importance of this Memorandum and the need for further institutionalization of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, and after the official lunch, the parties focused on bilateral cooperation in various fields, such as investment, economy, trade and other topics of common interest.
Meeting with the Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Mr Marwan A. Al-Ghanem
Investment opportunities in various fields of economy and infrastructure in the Republic of Kosovo were discussed at the meeting. On this occasion, the parties agreed to form a joint working group in order to identify potential investment fields and then concretize them.
Meeting with the Deputy Director General of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Abdulwahab Mohammed Al-Wazzan
Minister Gërvalla informed the Deputy Director about political developments in Kosovo, political and governance stability, as well as possible investment areas for Kuwaiti businesses. She also highlighted the suitable opportunities that Kosovo offers for investments in various fields of economy, agriculture and infrastructure.
Lecture at the Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, today held a lecture to the young Kuwaiti diplomats, during which she informed them about the path of Kosovo until the achievement of its independence, as well as the challenges regarding the strengthening of the state subjectivity of Kosovo.
She further informed the Kuwaiti diplomats about the destructive and not at all neighbourly policy that Serbia and its allies continue to pursue against the state of Kosovo and its independence.
In her speech, Minister Gërvalla stressed the fact that Serbia is not yet ready to face its hegemonic and genocidal past towards its neighbours, thus blocking regional cooperation processes and the European path of the Western Balkans region. Ms Gërvalla illustrated this fact with the launch of the MIG29 aircraft on the border with Kosovo a few days ago, destabilization of Montenegro, paralysis of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
She highlighted Kosovo's pro-Western orientation, and stressed the need to support Kosovo's friends and partners for new recognitions and membership in various international organizations.
Decoration of KSF officers and soldiers in Kuwait
In the framework of the official visit to the state of Kuwait, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, today attended the ceremony of decoration of the three members of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) in the Camp Arifjan, who are completing their service in the peacekeeping mission in Kuwait.
Major Mentor Ibrahimi, Commander of the KSF Unit in Kuwait, Captain Kreshnik Haxhiu, Lieutenant Dhurim Shemsedini, as well as Hyjnor Lajqi and Mehmet Mehmeti, were decorated by the Combined Joint Task Force (Operation Inherent Resolve) with the "Army Commendation Medal" for their outstanding contribution to the multinational force.
On this occasion, Minister Gërvalla emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo, through this mission, proves its contribution to global peace alongside its strategic partners.
“This role that Kosovo has taken on through your country is historic, as it places our Republic alongside the United States and other strategic partners to contribute to world peace and security”, she addressed the members of the KSF, recalling that this peacekeeping mission was accomplished thanks to the United States as part of the Iowa National Guard. After this meeting, Gërvalla, together with her associates, had a warm conversation with KSF soldiers and officers.
