The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla, received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, Luigi di Maio.
The Kosovo Chief Diplomat said that it was a special pleasure for her to welcome Minister di Maio in Prishtina, who is staying in Kosovo to greet the Italian troops serving within KFOR.
"We had a fruitful meeting with the Italian counterpart as we discussed the current situation in Kosovo and developments in the region, especially the good cooperation in many areas between Kosovo and Italy, two countries that continue to strengthen the excellent relations they have", the Kosovo Chief Diplomat said after this meeting.
One of the central topics of the meeting was inevitably the pandemic situation in both countries, as Minister Haradinaj-Stublla received the support of Minister Di Maio for close cooperation with Italy for the possibility of securing as soon as possible the anti-COVID-19 vaccine for the citizens of Kosovo.
"Minister Di Maio promised me that Italy is working intensively with the European Commission to create a special line for securing vaccines for the countries of the Western Balkans, in the first part of 2021".
Support from Italy was not lacking even during the pandemic period, as the assistance from the Italian state as well as the assistance from the Italian KFOR Command in managing the situation have been essential.
Minister Haradinaj-Stublla announced that, during this meeting, they also discussed the deepening of cooperation in other areas of strategic importance, especially in the area of defence and further support for the empowerment of the wonderful youth of Kosovo.
