Prishtina, 6 September, 2018 – In the framework of the Fifths Ambassadors Conference, which is taking place in Prishtina, the heads of state delivered speeches by highly appraising the role of the Kosovo Diplomacy.
In the opening of the Conference, the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, assessed that Kosovo has a diplomatic body with which we should be proud of, and extended his gratitude to it.
The Chief Diplomat Pacolli considered that by coordinating with friends worldwide, the sponsors of the independence and the statehood of Kosovo, we are working for membership to the European Union, the UN, Interpol and UNESCO, as well as to other important international organizations worldwide.
´´We are also opposing a destructive activity of our neighboring country everywhere in the world, who will not want to accept that history is not repeated, and it is stimulating alleged revocation of the will of the countries that recognized us. This is something unprecedented, which is in contradiction to the international law,” he stated.
Pacolli also spoke about the international significance that Kosovo has as of 1999 and the comparison with the today’s time, by inviting to produce positive and unique activity and to become a success story, working harder for our international image.
He further spoke about the work that has been done and is being done for the image of Kosovo and the role that artists such as Dua Lipa, Rita Ora our football players have for our country.
The head of Kosovo Diplomacy also presented the priorities of the MFA and the commitment for building up an efficient, professional and dignifying diplomatic service.
Moreover, Pacolli also related to a better future of our country, focusing on economic development, and spoke about the dialogue process with Serbia.
´´Instead of territorial partition or exchanges, we should propose Free Economic Cross-Boundary Areas. Territorial exchanges have little chances of success in the conditions of inequality between negotiating parties and have the risk of becoming negative precedents in the region and beyond. We need to provide wellbeing to our fellow Kosovo citizens of Serbian ethnicity, in order for them to feel Kosovo as their state,” highlighted the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister Pacolli Pacolli.
The President of the State, Hashim Thaçi, in his addressing assessed that after the first decade of statehood, now it is crucial to move together towards a solution, which would open doors to Kosovo everywhere around the world. According to him, the conclusion of dialogue with Serbia will definitely open the path for a new phase in our diplomacy.
According to President Thaçi, the dialogue with Serbia is an issue that has to be closed. The EU, according to him, will accept the six countries of the Western Balkans when these countries close the open issues they have among themselves.
´´We should move to lift the status quo. We will not allow the establishment of any association that resembles to Srpska Republic. Therefore, it will not have extended executive competences. We should correct the border line between Kosovo and Serbia, around 400 km, we should demark the border´´ he stated, adding that it is the moment to open the topic of joining the Presheva Valley to Kosovo. ´´I am not talking about any Kosovo partition, neither about any exchanges or Srpska Republic. The final agreement with Serbia has any meaning only if the RKS is recognized by Serbia and if Kosovo becomes a member of International Organizations.”
On the other hand, the Assembly Speaker, Kadri Veseli, related to the challenges that are encountered by the Kosovo state. According to him, these challenges, related to either internal institutional operation of the state or about challenges of its international representation.
´´We are all witnesses that we are going through a not very easy debate for the future of our state. We have reached to a new phase, which requires correct and decisive responses to what directing we are going. The dialogue with Serbia, initiated several years ago, should be concluded,” said Veseli. Accordign to him, the territorial sovereignty and integrity of our state are unnegotiable principles. “Reciprocal recognition between Kosovo and Serbia is the only possible alternative for the future” he stated.
Whereas, the Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, stated that Kosovo is in difficulty and in transition.
´´The Republic of Kosovo is decisive to belong to the Euro-Atlantic World, it is determined to belong to the coalition against terrorism and it is part of its allies´´ said the Prime Minister Haradinaj.
