Prishtina, March 29, 2017 – Under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo and in cooperation with the Producers Club of Kosovo, today in Prishtina has commenced proceedings two-day conference “Economic Diplomacy & Made in Kosova”.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj has emphasized that the foreign service of the MFA is at disposal to all interested businesses to promote and sell their products abroad.
Hoxhaj has added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is interested to be of service to the domestic interests and on this occasion he also mentioned the law on strategic investments emphasizing that the interest of Kosovo is promotion and putting the domestic products at the foreign market.
“We have diplomats in our 35 diplomatic missions around the world, whereas their job description includes promotion and facilitation of selling our products abroad. I would like to encourage you all to address to your attaches’ but also to the present ambassadors and tell them how can they help you with regards to promotion and exportation of domestic products”, said Hoxhaj.
The Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly Kadri Veseli has addressed to the representatives of the business, estimating that economic development, without doubt, is factor number one, of which depend all other processes. “Without a strong economic growth, we will not be able to have an increase of other positive indicators of the state and the society.
Veseli said that Kosovo aims a consolidated free market economy, meanwhile, has emphasized that it requires a favorable environment for potential development of private sector.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minster, Ramiz Kelmendi spoke about Kosovo’s economic capacity and fiscal policies. “Fiscal policies made in this government term are giving results and in the area of production, the preparations of fiscal package 2 have been completed”, said Kelmendi.
Meanwhile, the President of Producers Club of Kosovo, Astrit Shabani has spoken about the role of domestic producers and their capacities. “Each of these domestic companies is contributing in the economy”, said Shabani.
According to him, domestic producers have an export market in over 30 different countries around the world. Among the priorities of the producers club, Shabani has also mentioned the further need for awareness of domestic consumers.
Conference will continue its proceedings tomorrow, whereas during the day, the visits will be conducted to the factories of domestic producers.
