Trieste, 12 July 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj is staying in Italy, where he is participating in Western Balkans Summit with many leaders from the region and Europe in Trieste.
The cooperation between the countries of the region in the political and economic plan as well as the plans that will affect the economic development of the region as a prerequisite for integration into the European Union were some of the topics discussed during this Summit.
“During the Trieste summit, the main topic was regional cooperation in the political plan between the countries of the region, which has naturally undergone a major change in recent years, but another topic discussed was also the best economic cooperation between economies and societies in the region. They also discussed concrete projects which will affect the economic development of the region, that constitutes a prerequisite for EU integration”, stated Mr. Hoxhaj.
Minister Hoxhaj on the margins of the Trieste Summit met with counterparts from the region and held meetings with Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Austria, Sebastian Kurz.
Mr. Hoxhaj has also attended the Civil Society Forum, organized on the sidelines of the Trieste Summit, highlighting the important role of civil society on the path of Balkan countries towards EU integration.
