Prishtina, 29 March 2018 – A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration and French Embassy in the Republic of Kosovo, during an official ceremony held today in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for cooperation on the “Advancement of French Language Learning for Senior Government Officials and Co-operation in the Field of Francophonie Promotion Activities in Kosovo”.
Foreign Minister Pacolli: For Kosovo, France remains a strong partner, the cooperation with Francophone world will expand.
The signing of this agreement was made by the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Mahir Yagcilar, as well as the Ambassador of France to Kosovo, Mr. Didier Chabert.
“The Memorandum signed today will create new possibilities for the civil servants of the Kosovo institutions, who will benefit from the numerous programs of French institutions, European Union and the International Organization of La Francophonie... Among those who will benefit from this program, there will be diplomats, MPs, senior officials - who will, after a few years, be the bearers of the broad Francophonie mission in the region and, in addition to French diplomats, will lobby - in French - for the protection of values, uniting the Francophone nations.”, said the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister Pacolli.
In his speech, following the signing of the Memorandum, the Chief Kosovar diplomat, Pacolli presented also the concrete achievements since our country became a membership in this Organization.
“Since the membership of Kosovo in the Francophone Organization as an observer member, positive measurable achievements have been noted, among which the following can be mentioned: the membership of the University of Prishtina in the Francophone University Association (AUF) and the establishment of the Francophone University Center; the opening of the first French school in Pristina; the establishment of the Francophone Business Club (KOCAF); the multiplication of French-speaking cultural activities in Kosovo", he continued, thanking the Ambassador of France to Kosovo, Didier Chabert and his team for the excellent work in the development of the projects, and the Minister Yagcilar, for his dedication to the support he has given this project.
“For Kosovo, France remains a powerful partner in the protection and promotion of the democracy and its values. I am convinced that such concrete cooperation programs between our countries will serve to further strengthen the ties between our institutions and our democratic societies", said Pacolli.
Ambassador Chabert spoke about the importance of this Agreement, the excellent relations and cooperation between the two countries and nations.
