Selimi: MFA drives forward its public and digital diplomacy agenda

Prishtina, July 30, 2013 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Petrit Selimi, gave a lecture today to international and local students of Prishtina Summer University on public and digital diplomacy.

During the lecture, Deputy Minister Selimi set out the MFA’s strong commitment to and concrete results in the public diplomacy area, with special emphasis on the successful implementation of digital diplomacy.

Selimi spoke about concrete projects as well as several specific achievements and important international appraisals given to Kosovo’s Foreign Policy in this regard.

He underscored the fact the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, was recently ranked among the world’s 50 most active foreign ministers on Twitter – Twidiplomacy list of “Top 50 Best Connected World Leaders”.

Selimi also emphasized Kosovo’s Digital Diplomacy Strategy, citing the fact that it has been ranked by the prestigious Turkish journal on Public Diplomacy, “Yeni Diplomasi” the fourth best strategy in the world after the United States, United Kingdom and Israel.

Deputy Minister Selimi also spoke about the numerous activities that have taken place to date, including the InstaKosovo best pictures competition, the International Interfaith Conference in Peja, and the WikiAcademy competition.

During the questions and answers session, students of Prishtina Summer University expressed their interest in various specific aspects of Kosovo’s public and digital diplomacy strategy, their content and implementation in practice as well as the achieved results by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo.
