Hoxhaj: Recognition by the Vatican, an inspiration for other states

Prishtina, 6 October 2012 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj held a meeting with the Vatican Apostolic Delegate to the Republic of Kosovo, Juliusz Janusz, who is also the Apostolic Nuncio to Slovenia.

During the meeting, Minister Hoxhaj informed him about developments in Kosovo, and Kosovo’s European agenda after the end of the supervision of independence and new recognitions of Kosovo by various countries in the world.
 
He expressed the appreciation and respect of the citizens and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for the traditional support given by the Vatican to Kosovo.

Hoxhaj and Janusz also talked about ways of deepening cooperation between Kosovo and the Vatican.

On this occasion, Minister Hoxhaj emphasized that eventual recognition by the Vatican would inspire many countries of the world to follow its example.

“In addition, this would be an acknowledgement of the people of Kosovo’s earlier suffering and their current strong commitment to building a democratic state in full accordance with the best democratic European values, since Kosovo is a European state, historically, geographically and culturally,” said Hoxhaj.

The Vatican’s Apostolic Delegate to the Republic of Kosovo, Juliusz Janusz, praised the progress achieved in Kosovo, promising strong support from the Holy See for Kosovo.
