Hoxhaj: Croatia, a European model for Kosovo

After the meeting, the two ministers expressed their great appreciation for cooperation between the two states, emphasizing that the two countries will strengthen this cooperation further, especially with regard to the European integration of the Republic of Kosovo.

To this end, both countries will sign a strategic partnership agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Croatia with regard to European integration.

Minister Hoxhaj said that he discussed the Republic of Kosovo’s European prospects with Minister Pusić.

“Croatia’s membership proves that the European Union has space for the Balkan states. This is also proof that the unbending commitment of a people, a political elite and Government to reforming society – is rewarded”, said Hoxhaj.

He also emphasized that this path will be followed by the Republic of Kosovo and that Kosovo is not alone on this journey.

“Croatia has set a good example for the modernizing of society and fulfilling of reforms. It is a good European model. It is a model that we should follow”, said Hoxhaj.

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister also said that Croatia would support the Republic of Kosovo with its experience in integration, so that Kosovo’s path toward the European Union is shorter and more secure.

“Croatia’s integration and successes have created a new moment of inspiration and it is a good example of how other Balkan countries can move towards European integration and I believe that in the near future, we will benefit greatly from Croatian experience in the field of European integration”, he said.

Hoxhaj stated that during his meeting with his Croatian counterpart they discussed developing excellent relations between the two peoples and governments in the areas of economy, trade, education, culture, customs, criminal affairs and security etc.

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Vesna Pusić, emphasized Croatia’s support for Kosovo in all aspects, especially on the path toward European Union integration.

In addition, Pusić stressed that for Croatia the question of Kosovo’s independence is closed as Kosovo is an independent state and operates as such.
