Hoxhaj and Reichel sign agreement on cultural cooperation between Kosovo and Germany

Minister Hoxhaj said that this agreement is extremely important for relations between Kosovo and Germany.

“This agreement regulates and establishes a good framework for mutual cultural cooperation between Germany and Kosovo, in which the key focus of cooperation will be education, academic exchange, the media, film, culture, youth and sport, as well as collaboration over archaeological digs and the preservation of historical inscriptions and documents, in our two countries”, stated Hoxhaj.

He added that he held a farewell meeting with the existing German Ambassador to Kosovo, Ernst Reichel, who will be leaving Kosovo soon.

Hoxhaj expressed his thanks on behalf of Kosovo’s institutions and citizens for the work and strong support that Ambassador Reichel has given Kosovo during this time. 

In this aspect, he emphasized the Ambassador’s dynamic approach to intensifying bilateral cooperation between the two countries and his support for Kosovo’s integration.

The German Ambassador to Kosovo, Ernst Reichel, said he was very pleased with the agreement being signed.

According to him, this agreement makes possible a new framework of cooperation between Kosovo and Germany, noting that this agreement replaces the agreement between Germany and the former SFRY of 1969.

“This is another sign of how we intend to promote Kosovo as an independent state, as it is in reality, and the independent state without supervision, that it is now”, said Reichel, while also expressing his pleasure that this is the first agreement Kosovo is signing after the end of international supervision of independence.

Ambassador Reichel said that he would be leaving Kosovo with good memories. 
 
During the press conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, also made known that in July and August, the MFA has been working on drafting a new strategy document, which aims to address how, after the end of international supervision, Kosovo should work and lobby for full international recognition.

“We have various international, American and European experts, who together with our MFA teams, have concluded that we must have a more active approach and exploit the momentum created on September 10, after the end of international supervision and there will be many concrete steps made to this end,” he said.

Besides recognition, Hoxhaj said that the MFA is interested to push forward Kosovo’s European agenda, as well as Kosovo’s participation and membership of regional, European and global organizations.

“The promotion of Kosovo’s economic interests and a strong lobbying agenda for many states to invest in Kosovo is already one of our highest priorities”, said Hoxhaj.
