An official note, issued by the Australian Government, informs that the decree of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, to open the Embassy of Kosovo in the Australian capital Canberra, is welcomed.

Thereby, the Austrian Government gave their consent for the establishment of the diplomatic mission of Kosovo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, in full coordination with other state institutions involved in foreign policy, will undertake all measures to commence the procedures for the opening of the Embassy in the friendly state of Australia.

The opening of Kosovo’s Embassy in Canberra was the topic of discussion at the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, and the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bob Carr, held during the International Conference “Friends of Syrian People” organized in Paris on 6 July 2012.

The meeting also discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and the deepening of cooperation and exchange between the two countries and nations.

The opening of the Embassy of Kosovo to Australia is another step towards the strategic orientation of Kosovo’s foreign policy to increase our presence in as many countries as possible with the purpose of continuous empowerment of the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo and the dynamics of Kosovo’s diplomacy.
