Lifeless body of poet Ali Podrimja found

Prishtina, July 21, 2012 – French state authorities have conveyed to Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs the sad news on finding in France the lifeless body of the renowned Kosovar poet Ali Podrimja.

Shocked from this major loss, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj expressed his most sincere condolences to the community of poets, writers and artists and all the people of Kosovo on the loss of poet Podrimja.

“The loss of international renowned poet Ali Podrimja is a great loss not only for his family and his countless friends, but also an extraordinary loss for the Kosovar and Albanian culture and art and beyond. The memory of poet Ali Podrimja will always be alive in our midst and will serve us as a motivation figure for Kosovo's future generations," said Minister Hoxhaj in his note of condolence.

Poet Ali Podrimja had lost contact with his colleagues and friends since July 18 while he was staying in France for the poetry festival “Voix de la Méditerranée” taking place in the city of Lodève.

French authorities are working in fully illuminating the circumstances how poet Ali Podrimja lost his life.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo thanks the authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France and all other French local and central institutions for their utmost commitment in shedding light on this case.
