On behalf of the people and the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, Minister Hoxhaj joined the condolences expressed by the western democratic world to the Syrian people and opposition for another tragedy caused by the criminal regime of Assad.

Minister Hoxhaj reiterated that the institutions and the people of Kosovo are following the situation in Syria with great concern and strongly condemned the bloodshed by the Assad regime against the aspirations of the Syrian people and opposition to transform their country into an open and pluralist state.

“The Republic of Kosovo expresses full solidarity with the demands of the people in Syria for political changes. The Assad regime lost its legitimacy right after the legitimate demands of the Syrian people were faced with bombing artillery, tanks and massive killing of civilians,” said Hoxhaj and expresses the strong believe that the international community will effectively respond to the crisis in Syria.
Hoxhaj pointed out that Syria cannot be a peaceful, stable and democratic state without the removal of Assad and without a launch of political transition in Syria and called on the international community to intervene to stop the bloodshed and to start the democratization process of Syria.

“We believe that no regime can remain immune against the waves of democratization and freedom, so it is just a matter of time before this happens also in Syria,” said Hoxhaj and expressed the full support and readiness of the Republic of Kosovo to help the provisional international efforts to bring lasting peace and democracy in Syria.
