Ambassador Skender Xhakaliu presented his credentials to President Joachim Gauck

Berlin, June 19, 2012 – The new Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Germany, Skender Xhakaliu met today with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Joachim Gauck, and officially presented him the credentials as the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo.

German President Joachim Gauck received Ambassador Xhakaliu with the highest state honours.

During a very friendly conversation, the German President wished welcome to Ambassador Xhakaliu and expressed his conviction that the already very good relations of the two countries shall develop further.

On this event, Ambassador Xhakaliu and German President Gauck talked about recent developments in Kosovo on which case the German President stressed that his country continues to remain committed in supporting the state of Kosovo in building democratic institutions.

President Gauck added that Germany will provide its full support for the further integration of Kosovo into Euro-Atlantic institutions.

In his speech, Ambassador Xhakaliu conveyed the salute of President Jahjaga and the sincere congratulations from the people and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

Ambassador Xhakaliu emphasized the continued goal of Kosovo that as a free and democratic state it will continue to further relations with the German state, relying in the great friendship and respect of the people of Kosovo towards the German nation.

At the ceremony held in Bellevue Palace, Ambassador Xhakaliu as accompanied by the entire diplomatic and consular staff in Berlin.

Ambassador Xhakaliu is the second Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the Federal Republic of Germany.
