Hoxhaj: Tony Blair symbol of faith, optimism and hope

Prishtina, 18 June 2012 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, together with the Minister of European Integration, Vlora Çitaku, received the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Tony Blair, who is on a visit to Prishtina.

During the meeting, Minister Hoxhaj praised highly the importance of the leadership and character of the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair for Kosovo, the region and beyond.

He said that Blair is a symbol of faith, optimism and hope for Kosovo’s citizens.

Minister Hoxhaj thanked the former British Prime Minister for the extraordinary contribution that he and Great Britain gave and continue to give to consolidating Kosovo in all aspects.

Hoxhaj informed former Prime Minister Blair about developments in Kosovo, internal progress and the continual strengthening of the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo.

“We bow in deep gratitude to you, for Kosovo’s liberation. We express great thanks to the hundreds and thousands of British citizens, and many soldiers, who prevented our physical extinction and who contributed so much to Kosovo. And to the many diplomats who rationally presented our case, and many journalists and academics who did not give up from the search for justice,” said Hoxhaj.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, expressed his pleasure at visiting Kosovo, and his appreciation for the progress being achieved in the Republic of Kosovo in all areas and expressed his continuing support.

Blair said he was happy to have the opportunity to involve Kosovar universities in the global network of top universities, where he lectures on his program of “Globalization and faith.”

With respect to this issue, Minister Hoxhaj expressed his strong support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this valuable initiative of former Prime Minister Blair, emphasizing the importance and impact that it will have on strengthening the academic university system in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, Blair thanked Minister Hoxhaj for the support offered and assistance that Kosovo’s MFA has given to the issue of inter-faith dialogue.
