Prime Minister Thaçi meets Japanese counterpart Yodhihiko Noda

Prishtina, 8 June 2012 - On the third day of his official visit to Japan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, along the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, met with the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihiko Noda.

Prime Minister Thaçi thanked Prime Minister Noda for the support that Japan has offered Kosovo in the last thirteen years and expressed solidarity and support on behalf of the people of Kosovo for the people of Japan following the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last year.

Prime Minister Thaçi also thanked Prime Minister Noda for the warm welcome by him personally and by the Japanese state during the visit.  

Prime Minister Thaçi informed Prime Minister Noda on the recent developments in the Republic of Kosovo in every aspect. Prime Minister Thaçi also mentioned the success that Kosovo has achieved over the last few years in terms of economic development, with a special emphasis on the importance of economic cooperation and investments of Japan. 

“Kosovo is a small country but of abundant opportunities. We now need to close the chapter of assistance and open the one of development and investments. Kosovo offers ample investment opportunities, especially in the field of mining, energy, agriculture and tourism,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.

Prime Minister Noda thanked Prime Minister Thaçi for his ongoing visit to Japan and thanked the Government and the people of Kosovo and for the support and solidarity expressed after the last year’s earthquake and tsunami. 

Prime Minister Noda expressed his commitment and that of the Japanese Government to advance cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the state of Japan. 

“You have met the most high-ranking state and institutional officials in Japan and your visit represents a solid foundation on which to advance cooperation between our states,” said Prime Minister Noda.
