Minister Hoxhaj salutes the decision of Montenegro to open its Embassy in Prishtina

Prishtina, May 31,2012 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj send a note of gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Milan Rocen.

In this note, Minister Hoxhaj thanked the Montenegrin counter-part on the decision of the Government of Montenegro in opening the Embassy in Prishtina.

“We welcome the opening of Montenegrin Embassy in Prishtina. The Republic of Kosovo has now initiated procedures to open the Embassy in Podgorica. The opening of these new embassies opens a new chapter in our bilateral relations. These excellent relations are a guarantee for the permanent stability, security and peace in the Balkans as well as of the Euro-Atlantic integrations of the two countries”, the note reads.

Minister Hoxhaj assessed that opening new missions and the exchange of ambassadors between the state of Kosovo with almost all friend countries confirmed that very good relations of our country with neighbouring countries and the powerful stabilization role of the Republic of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the decision of the Government of Montenegro states that opening of the embassy in Prishtina further contributes to the establishment of good neighbourly relations as one of the most important factors for EU membership.

Montenegro has recognized Kosovo’s independence on October 9, 2008 meanwhile diplomatic ties with Prishtina were established on January 15, 2010.
