Minister Hoxhaj receives the Political Director of the German MFA, Hans-Dieter Lucas

Prishtina, 31 May 2012 – Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, met the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Hans-Dieter Lucas.

Minister Hoxhaj thanked him for Germany’s continual assistance for Kosovo now, and in the past.

He emphasized the great significance of Germany’s strong support for Kosovo, consolidating its statehood and integration in Euro-Atlantic structures.

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister informed the Political Director of the German MFA about the progress and important reforms occurring in Kosovo, as well as the institutional and social commitment to quickly progress on the path toward membership in the European Union, emphasizing the determination of Kosovars to achieve this aspiration as quickly as possible.

In this aspect, Hoxhaj expressed the Government’s appreciation and that of Kosovo’s citizens for Germany’s assistance with regard to the visa liberalization roadmap, as well as the support it has promised for the fulfilling of criteria set in the roadmap and for Kosovo’s quick progress through subsequent processes of EU integration.

Minister Hoxhaj sought Germany’s support for Kosovo to join the NATO Partnership for Peace program, as a first step toward integration in the North Atlantic Alliance.

In the meeting, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister again invited all German businesses to invest in Kosovo, mentioning the favorable conditions that the Republic of Kosovo offers and the welcome that exists in Kosovo’s institutions and its people for German businesses.

The Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Hans-Dieter Lucas, reconfirmed Germany’s support for state building and strengthening the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo.

Lucas assured Minister Hoxhaj of the German Government’s strong support for integration toward the European Union, noting in particular assistance for fulfilling as quickly and as successfully as possible the roadmap criteria for visa liberalization for Kosovo’s citizens.

The Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany welcomed Minister Hoxhaj’s public invitation to German businessmen to invest in Kosovo, viewing it as a very important process for strengthening relations and mutual exchange between the two countries.
