Minister Hoxhaj receives senior delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Parliament

Prishtina, 28 May 2012 – Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, received a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Parliament, led by the Committee’s President, Volkan Bozkir.

Minister Hoxhaj stated that cooperation between the two countries’ institutions and society are excellent.

Hoxhaj informed Mr. Bozkir about the continual progress being made in Kosovo, the strong reforms and European perspective of the Republic of Kosovo.

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister also emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the Republic of Turkey, in all areas, thanks to Turkey’s consistent policy of supporting Kosovo, now and many years ago.

In addition, Hoxhaj informed the President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Parliament about recognition and the continual consolidation of Kosovo’s international subjectivity.

With regard to recognition, Minister Hoxhaj asked for continuing support from Ankara to help conclude as quickly as possible Kosovo’s recognition process.  

Hoxhaj and Bozkir agreed on the total will of the institutions of the two countries to deepen cooperation in foreign policy, as well as bilateral cooperation in the economy, trade and culture.

The President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Parliament, Volkan Bozkir, emphasized the good relations between Turkey and Kosovo, noting the readiness of the Turkish institutions to contribute to strengthening the statehood and international subjectivity of Kosovo.

Bozkir also stated that working to increase the number of recognitions of Kosovo is an important priority for Turkey and that all Turkish politicians are united in their position on Kosovo.

He emphasized that Turkey also strongly supports Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
