Memorandum of cooperation signed between Diplomatic Academies of Kosovo and Croatia

Prishtina, 27 May 2012 - From 24 to 26 May in Dubrovnik, the 15th Diplomatic Forum of Dubrovnik was held, the participants of which included diplomats, ambassadors, academics, and senior government officials from over thirty countries in the world. The Forum discussed the topic, “Diplomacy and Inter-Cultural Dialogue”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo was represented in this Forum by Deputy Minister Ibrahim Gashi and Sylë Ukshini, Director of Regional Relations.

During the Forum, the MFA delegation led by Deputy Minister Gashi held informal meetings with government and academic representatives from all over the world.

Gashi held a meeting with the Speaker of the Maltese Parliament, Michael Frendo, who he thanked for his country’s contribution and his own personal work in the past and present for Kosovo’s recognition, especially in the group of Commonwealth states and he invited them to visit Kosovo.

During the work of the Forum, Deputy Foreign Minister Gashi also held a meeting with the leader of the Senate of the University of Bucharest, Vlad Nistor, and with the Director of the Diplomatic Academy of London, Nabil Ayad.

On the last day of the Forum, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the MFA Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Kosovo and the MFA Diplomatic Academy of Croatia. The Memorandum was signed by the two Deputy Foreign Ministers, Ibrahim Gashi and Joshko Klisovic. Cooperation will focus on the exchange of experience, experts and offering training programs for diplomatic and consular staff of the MFA of the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, the two Deputy Foreign Ministers confirmed that relations between Kosovo and Croatia are very friendly and mutual cooperation is intensive.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Ibrahim Gashi, during his participation in the CEI (Central European Initiative) Diplomatic Forum, which was held in Dubrovnik held a series of meetings with many diplomats and European experts of countries in the region, including countries which have not recognized the state of Kosovo.

On this occasion, Gashi gave a short lecture to diplomats, academics and staff of the Croatian Diplomatic Academy and participants in this Forum from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and the “Central European Initiative, Regional Cooperation Council”.

In addition, in Podgorica, Deputy Minister Ibrahim Gashi held a meeting with the Director of Bilateral Issues in the MFA of Montenegro, Ambassador Ramiz Bašic, with whom he discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in all areas between the two countries.
