After the meeting, Minister Hoxhaj said that Erler is a great friend and supporter of the Balkans and of Kosovo, and has continually worked for peace, stability and security in the region and in Kosovo.

Minister Hoxhaj stated that he informed Mr. Erler about developments in Kosovo, starting with the work being done to conclude supervised independence, consolidating statehood, the situation in the north of the country, technical dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and the European agenda.

“I thanked him for Germany’s strong support for Kosovo before and after independence, for this great support for decades in a row and I asked for assistance, particularly regarding the visa liberalization process and Kosovo’s further integration”, said Minister Hoxhaj.

The Deputy leader of the SPD Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, Gernot Erler, said that Germany would support Kosovo not just in visa liberalization, but in many other aspects.

Erler said that Germany is very determined to support the Republic of Kosovo, emphasizing that Germany is an important partner for Kosovo.

In addition, he said he understood well what role the visa liberalization process has for Kosovo’s citizens and the atmosphere here.

“We fully understand the frustration in Kosovo that still there is no roadmap. This process is late, but recently we have made concrete steps and we believe that it will occur soon”, said Erler.
