Brunei Darussalam recognizes Kosovo independence

Prishtina, 25 April 2012 – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam, Mohamed Bolkiah, through a letter sent to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, confirming the official recognition of the Republic of Kosovo from this state.

Today, Minister Hoxhaj also had a phone conversation with the Ambassador of this state in the United Nations in New York, Latif Tuha, who conveyed the cordial greetings of the foreign Minister as well as confirming to minister Hoxhaj the official recognition by Brunei Darussalam.

In addition, Minister Hoxhaj was extended an invitation for an official visit in this state.

Brunei Darussalam, known in the world as Brunei, is a sovereign state located in Southeast Asia.

In 2011, Brunei’s population was 401,890  and currently it is considered a new industrialized country, ranking second among the Southeast Asia nations in terms of highest Human Development Index, and categorizes as a developed country.

Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of Brunei, and it is a member state of United Nations since 21 September 1984.
