Deputy Minister Ibrahim Gashi is officially received by his counterpart in Egypt

Prishtina, 12 April 2012 – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Ibrahim Gashi on April 9 and 10, traveled from Riyadh to Cairo where he made an official visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

Gashi was received by the Deputy Foreign Minister and Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the MFA of Egypt, Osama Tawfik Badr, with whom he discussed intensifying relations between the two countries.

His Egyptian host informed the Kosovar Deputy Minister about political developments in Egypt after the revolution and attempts made in the country to conclude the process of creating a new Government and organizing Presidential elections.

Discussions developed in a warm atmosphere and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt, Badr suggested to Deputy Minister Gashi that Egypt will quickly, as soon as it concludes the creation of new institutions, take a decision to recognize Kosovo. 

The people and institutions of Egypt, he said are and will be supportive of Kosovo.

They talked also about concrete cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of the Republic of Kosovo and the Diplomatic Institute of the MFA of Egypt.

On this occasion, they agreed that soon they would sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two diplomatic institutions.

In the evening, Deputy Minister Gashi was invited on a live program on NEL TV, a well-known Egyptian media which shows programs in English.

For about 30 minutes, he talked about political and economic developments in the state of Kosovo, the process of recognition and relations between Kosovo and Egypt.
