The Kosovo Government approves the decision to found a Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtina, 8 March 2012 – In today’s meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the founding of a Kosovo Diplomatic Academy was approved, which is foreseen in the Law on the Diplomatic and Consular Service of Kosovo.

The Kosovo Diplomatic Academy will be an institution that functions inside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will plan and implement training requirements for Kosovo’s diplomatic staff, will undertake diplomatic studies for the needs of the Foreign Ministry, will organize conferences and seminars for diplomacy and will draft necessary documents for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
The Government believes that founding this academy will strongly support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kosovar diplomacy.

Based on the Law on the Foreign Service, Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, asked the Government Cabinet to support the founding of the Kosovo Diplomatic Academy.
“The Law on the Foreign Service of the Republic of Kosovo foresees the founding of the Kosovo Diplomatic Academy and we as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believe it is necessary for it to be founded now,” he said.

Furthermore, Minister Hoxhaj talked about the function this Academy will have, stating that it will play an important role in Kosovo diplomacy.

“First, the Kosovo Diplomatic Academy foresees the organization and leadership of training of diplomatic and consular staff; second, it foresees the undertaking of research activities and the publication of a journal and studies in international politics and diplomacy. Thirdly, this institution must organize conferences and seminars in the field of international policy and diplomacy”, said Minister Hoxhaj.
