Hoxhaj and Çitaku: It is high time that the Republic of Kosovo received the roadmap, contractual relations and the Stabilization Association Agreement

Brussels, 27 February 2012 – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, and the Minister of European Integrations, Vlora Çitaku, have continued their meetings in Brussels.

Minister Hoxhaj and Minister Çitaku initially had a meeting with the Deputy Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Michael Spindelegger.

 Austria’s support for the process of European integration of the Republic of Kosovo was sought at this meeting. On this even, Minister Hoxhaj said that it was unacceptable that Kosovars continue to remain the only ones who are entitled to visa-free movement in the Schengen zone.

 According to Hoxhaj and Çitaku, it is high time that Kosovo received the roadmap, signs contractual relations and commences with a feasibility study for the Stabilization Association Agreement with the European Union.

They also had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, János Martonyi from whom they sought Hungary’s support in providing the experience in the European integration process.

Also in the business meeting with Nickolay Mladenov, Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister Hoxhaj and Minister Çitaku provided information on the reforms fulfilled by the Republic of Kosovo underlining that Kosovo is ready for its European journey.

They also had a meeting with the Minister for European Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Lidington. At this meeting they were reassured that Great Britain will support the Republic of Kosovo in the process of regional and international integrations.

During the day, Minister Hoxhaj and Minister Çitaku will be meeting with the majority of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the European Union Member States from whom they will be seeking the support of the respective countries on Kosovo’s European agenda.
