Hoxhaj: Switzerland, a strong supporter of Kosovo’s economic development

Prishtina, 23 February – Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation.

In a meeting with the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Peter Maurer, Minister Hoxhaj discussed the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Switzerland, and the support that Switzerland can offer in economic development and increasing recognition of the Republic of Kosovo.

In the beginning, Minister Hoxhaj thanked Switzerland for the great support given in past decades to the people of Kosovo and to the state building process of the Republic of Kosovo.

“Switzerland has given a valuable contribution to Kosovo’s freedom and state building. For this we will always be grateful”, said Hoxhaj.

On the other hand, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Peter Maurer emphasized his state’s support to the Republic of Kosovo’s economic development. He emphasized that Switzerland this year has allocated a large fund for states of South Eastern Europe, from which the Republic of Kosovo will benefit.

Minister Hoxhaj welcomed Switzerland’s willingness to support projects which will directly assist the Republic of Kosovo’s economic development.

Talking about Kosovo’s European perspective, Minister Hoxhaj sought the support of Switzerland so that Kosovo’s citizens can move freely without visas in the Schengen zone as soon as possible.

In this meeting, they also discussed the assistance Switzerland can give to returning the missing and overcoming the past in the Balkans.
