Deputy Minister Gashi asks for Slovenia’s support in European Integrations

Ljubljana, 20 February 2012 – During his visit in Slovenia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Ibrahim Gashi met with the Secretary of State, Igor Sencar, with whom he talked on furthering the cooperation between the two countries.

During this meeting, D/Minister Gashi commended the Secretary of the State for the establishment of the new Government of Slovenia whereas Mr. Sencar confirmed the readiness of the new Government in continuing and further deepening the cooperation between the two countries. Naser Idrizi, Charge D’Affaire of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo to Slovenia,  was also present in the meetings.

Deputy Minister Gashi expressed his gratitude for the support Slovenia has provided and continues to provide to Kosovo and also asked to further strengthen and expand the cooperation in the future and in particular in helping the Republic of Kosovo in the process of Euro-Atlantic integrations.

“Slovenia is now even close in this process as we take into account that former Foreign Minister Mr. Žbogar is the main EU representative for Kosovo. We asked from Slovenia to increase the level of economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries by emphasizing the need to increase Kosovar exports to Slovenia which is currently very low”, stated Deputy Minister Gashi.

Gashi also asked from senior Slovenian representatives a closer cooperation between the two ministries through the creation of an agenda of a more regular consultative cooperation. During this visit Deputy Minister Gashi also attended the celebration even in marking the fourth anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo organized by our embassy in Slovenia.

During this celebration event Deputy Minister Gashi also met with the Senator of Massachusetts, Marc Pachecco who delivered a speech at this reception. Mr. Pachecco confirmed once again the institutional support of the United Stated towards the institutions and the people of Kosovo being convinced that they are supporting a freedom-loving nation and a democratic state which is proving itself more and more of being a regional and global peace and stability factor.
