Croatia offers Kosovo its experience on European Integrations

Zagreb, 16 February 2012 – Within the frames of marking Kosovo’s Independence Day, during his visit in the Republic of Croatia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Ibrahim Gashi, was received today in Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations by the Croat Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joshko Klisoviq and his associates.

Valdet Sadiku, Kosovo’s Ambassador to Zagreb, was also present in the meeting.

Deputy Minister Gashi commended his Croatian counterpart on concluding the negotiations on Croatia’s EU accession and thanked the Croatian state and its people for the continued support given to the people and the state of Kosovo on its path towards independence as well as in materializing statehood and its affirmation in the world.

During the conversation, both Deputy Ministers agreed that relationships between the two countries are good and friendly and they need to be further even more in areas of mutual interest.

Also, Deputy Minister Gashi informed his counterpart on the successes attained by the Republic of Kosovo during these four years of statehood as well as on the challenges and goals lying ahead of the state of Kosovo on its path of strengthening regional cooperation as well as in implementing the Ahtisaari Plan in Kosovo’s northern municipalities.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Gashi requested that during future cooperation, the Croatian state would offer its experience to the Republic of Kosovo in terms of EU integration processes as that would be a highly valuable assistance for Kosovar in their aims towards the EU as well.

This request of Deputy Minister Gashi was received with pleasure and in this context, the Croatian side expressed its full willingness to offer is assistance, experience and its knowledge attained during this process.
