Hoxhaj: We will further our cooperation with Haiti following the recognition
Initially, Minister Hoxhaj met with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Garry Conille, whom he thanked for the decision of his Government in recognizing Kosovos independence.
Minister Hoxhaj stated that with this decision Haiti has joined the ranks of powerful and democratic countries of the world, which through their recognitions have contributed to peace and stability in the Balkans.
On the other hand, Haitis Prime Minister, Garry Conille, assessed that Haiti and the Republic of Kosovo should further the political and economical cooperation.
Minister Hoxhaj and Prime Minister Conille have agreed that the two countries will soon signed several bilateral agreements.
Last evening, following an official meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, Laurent Lamothe, Haitis Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced in a joint press conference the official recognition of Kosovos independence by Haiti.
The two ministers have declared that the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Haiti will soon establish diplomatic relations, through the accreditation of non-resident ambassadors and several agreements in the areas of education will also be signed.
Minister Hoxhaj also offered to Haiti the assistance of the Republic of Kosovo, especially in providing with the experiences in the rebuilding process.
The Republic of Haiti is the 87th country to recognize Kosovos independence.
The recognition from this country comes at a time when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo has intensified its efforts at maximum in concluding the process of recognitions of the independence of Kosovo.
The Republic of Haiti, a country of the Caribbeans has a surface area of 27,750 Square Kilometres, a population of about 9.8 million and its capital is Port-au-Prince.
