MFA strongly opposes LDK’s accusations

Prishtina, 08 February 2012 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo expresses its regret concerning the un-meaningful and inaccurate reaction of the Democratic League of Kosovo on the internal cadre shifts at MFA.

We remind the political group that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has inherited a very serious state of cadre, of logistics and administration ever since the time when this Ministry was run by the former Minister who was from the ranks of LDK. The note this party submitted today to the media ignored the basic comparative facts of the work done in the past the today. The assaulting language use by this political subject also resembles with the attempts to make political differentiation from the monistic times.

MFA has not fired any employee from any single position at MFA wanting to preserve work cohesion and continuing. On the contrary, for the first time in the history of MFA history, we have started with a very wide and diverse training program in improving staff’s work quality, and that with the assistance of the most credible international academic institutions.

LDK forgets entirely that during its mandate it has brought in key diplomatic positions, including those in the defence team at the ICJ, and people who lacked the very basic knowledge of English language. LDK forgets that during its mandate it has left its staff working for three years in inhumane working conditions and in conditions posing health dangerous, in basements with no sunlight. LDK forgets that during its mandate there was no capacity increase, no training and no continued education whatsoever. LDK also forgets the citizens complaints with came in hundreds which all over the world have been directly facing with the slow work and the often-time frustrating interaction for citizens with the Minister and his former cabinet.

MFA, respectively the Office of the General Secretary, has a legal and professional duty that pursuant to legal provisions in power, of the official performance analysis, legal procedure on verifying appeals and decisions of the disciplinary committee, to propose and implement change within the approved organizational chart of the senior staff whose only goal is, even though a delayed one, to functionalize the MFA in critical operative areas. Throughout the world, appointments and changes in staff are among the most basic tool in improving performance and the political group of LDK ought to have learned about the methods of modern diplomacy management in compliance to the needs of the state and the proper care for the staff.
