Kosovo-Turkey Economic Forum is held, Pacolli invites Turkish businesses to increase their investments in Kosovo

Prishtina, 27 October 2017 – On the second day of the official visit to Turkey, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, opened Kosovo-Turkey Business Forum, together with Minister of Economic Development of Turkey, Lütfi Elvan, and in the presence of many companies, both from Turkey and Kosovo.

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pacolli has praised the Turkish investments in Kosovo, and urged them to increase Turkey's investments in Kosovo and for this he has emphasized the advantages offered by the Kosovo market, the proximity between the two countries and two nations, the geographic position of Kosovo which is closer to Europe, facilitation of business procedures in our country and the Law on Strategic Investment.

Minister of Economic Development of Turkey, Lütfi Elvan considers Kosovo as an important trade partner that has made important reforms for economic development in recent years, and emphasized that Turkish investments in Kosovo are being taken as an example for other countries as well.

In this regard, he also invited Turkish companies to increase their investments in Kosovo, by assessing that the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between Kosovo and Turkey gives Turkish companies a priority in relation to competing companies from the region and then from Kosovo can also access the European Union market, but also other markets in which Kosovo can export their products.

Turkey is part of the group of countries with the largest presence of investments in Kosovo. So far, there are about 700 Turkish businesses that are registered in Kosovo. Nearly 200 of them are stable companies with a stable operation. Turkish companies have so far invested 367,80 million euros in Kosovo. Investments are oriented in the sector of banking, education, health, manufacturing, construction, trade, catering, transport and other fields.
