Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pacolli visited NATO headquarters, it is reaffirmed the continuation of support

Brussels, 28 September – 2017 – Following the official visit to Brussels, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, was hosted in a meeting at NATO headquarters.

This meeting of the chief of Kosovo diplomacy started with a handshake, warm hospitality and a joint official photo with Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ms. Rose Bottemoeller, and continued afterwards with the official part of expressing the respective positions and in parallel with this also to consider the opportunities for expanding and enhancing mutual cooperation.

At this meeting, Ms. Bottemoeller initially congratulated the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, on assuming this position, and also thanked him on the role he had given in solving and overcoming the political crisis that our country was facing after the elections.

In addition, she expressed her interest also in the stand and approach of the Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo regarding the process of dialogue with Serbia as well as in resolving the demarcation of borderline with Montenegro.

Regarding the issue of dialogue, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pacolli stressed that this issue should have a clear timeframe, while in relation to the demarcation of the borderline with Montenegro, he expressed the belief that this issue will be resolved in the best possible way, considering the excellent relations between the two countries.

Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ms. Rose Bottemoeller reaffirmed the earlier position that NATO will continue to support Kosovo, as it has done in the past. During the meeting was also discussed about the process of transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into the Armed Forces of Kosovo, which has been agreed that this should be done in full coordination with NATO, in alignment with the domestic legal framework as well as by co-ordinating actions with allied and partner states.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, thanked Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ms. Rose Bottemoeller, in behalf of what he described as "all generations of Kosovo" for the irreplaceable role and contribution of this organization to end the war, peace-building and continued provision of security in Kosovo and in the region, estimating that "Kosovo and the region could not be imagined without the presence of NATO".

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Behgjet Pacolli, was originally planned to meet with NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, but this was not possible, as he was on another official visit.
