Press Release from the Visit of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pacolli to Montenegro

Podgorica, 26 September 2017 – The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, conducted today an official visit to the neighbouring Republic of Montenegro.

In the numerous meetings he had with senior officials of all Montenegrin institutions, starting from the meeting with his counterpart, Srdjan Darmanović, Minister of Foreign Affairs, continuing later with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Zoran Pazhin, with Mr. Ivan Brajović, President of Parliament, as well as with the President of this state, H.E. Mr Filip Vujanović, the First Deputy-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli, thanked the highest representatives of the host country for the ongoing support since the period of war in Kosovo, the recognition of the statehood, the ongoing support for membership in international organizations and consolidation of the international position of Kosovo.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli, praised the excellent relations between the two countries and the two peoples at all levels.

From their side, the hosts of these meetings appreciated the fact that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli conducted his very second visit outside Kosovo to Montenegro with the aim of putting an emphasis on these relations.

In the light of these meetings, the number two of Kosovo’s Government and the Chief of Diplomacy, Mr. Pacolli urged for acceleration of work to enhance the level of cooperation between the two countries at all levels, especially in economy, economic growth and human exchanges, where traffic is considered to be of essential importance.

"We have to work towards the integration of rail routes, establishment of joint entities in the field of air transport, etc. We are small countries to be successful in these kinds of transport in the global world that surrounds us", said the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli.

Furthermore, Montenegrin high level interlocutors expressed their considerations for the delays in ratifying the border demarcation agreement between the two countries, considering it as a "political issue".

In this respect, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli, informed the hosts with the political situation following the establishment of the new institutions in Kosovo and expressed his confidence that this issue will be overcome in the most appropriate way, without undermining the very good relations between the two countries, in full compliance with the principles of the international law, the sensitivity of public and property rights of citizens.

The visit of Kosovo's Chief of Diplomacy to Montenegro was concluded with a meeting with representatives of Albanian parties. First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Pacolli brought the latter together on this occasion, by listening to their concerns, their aspirations for the political and social affirmation of the Albanian minority in Montenegro.
