Mr. Hoxhaj meets his counterpart from Estonia, seeking support for Kosovo in the European agenda and integration

Prishtina, 16 May 2017 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, met his counterpart from Estonia, Minister Sven Mikser, who is staying for an official visit to Kosovo.

Minister Hoxhaj expressed his gratitude for the continuous support of Estonia and for the trust shown towards the independence and the state of Kosovo.

Since Estonia will take the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July, the parties discussed on the ways of cooperation and support from Estonia to Kosovo's European agenda, including the SAA, visa liberalization and membership in international organizations.

“This is very important to us for what we have already said publicly that our political ambitions are to apply for EU membership candidate status which obviously will happen after we meet our internal obligations as a state”, he said.

Mr. Hoxhaj said that Kosovo and Estonia, as two similar countries in terms of territory and population, can learn and benefit a lot from one another, while he told that they discussed on the ways of cooperation between the two countries, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the application of online governance in Kosovo, education, economy, etc.

The two counterparts also talked about developments in the region and the dialogue on normalizing the relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
