In Sweden was held the Festival of Albanian Folklore

Prishtina, 4 October 2017- For the eleven times in a row, in the organization of the Union of Albanian Associations, the Festival of Albanian Folklore took place in Sweden. This traditional event was held in the town of Vaxjo, while the host was the local Association “Liria”.

The festival was opened with the intonation of the National Anthem and then it was announced opened by the Chairman of the Presidency of the Union, Sadulla Zendeli - Daja, who thanked for participation the cultivators of the Albanian folklore in this Scandinavian country and wished them success.

In the official program of the festival were presented amateur groups, folklore ensembles and rhapsodists operating in Albanian associations in many Swedish locations. They presented the values of Albanian folklore through folk songs, instrumental dances and by dancing the dances that are cultivated in Albanian lands.

The competition was evaluated by the jury of the festival consisting of Ahmet Bella, Master of Music, President Marsela Basha, representative of “Dardania” association from Vaxjo, Ismail Binakaj, representative of the association “Iliria” from Norrshoping and Ismail Binakaj representative from the hosting association “Liria” of Vaxjo, a member. According to evaluation of the Jury, the first place was shared by amateurs from the “Dardania” associations from Boros and “Liria” from Vaxjo. The dance group of the association from Boros was honored for dancing the “Drenica Dance”, while dancers from Vaxjo for dancing a mosaic of dances with motifs from Kosovo.

Second place was awarded to the dancers of the association “Iliria” from Norshopingu. They had competed with “Tirana Dance”. While the Special Award of the Festival was awarded to Rhapsod Dervish Kuqi for the great interpretation of the song “I am singing at the festival”, reports KultPlus.

“The festival was generally successful. The contestants were well prepared by the choreographers and the colours of the clothing were delightful and represented many parts of our homeland, said the chairperson of the jury, Ahmet Bella. The festival's organizer for all the participants in the program awarded public gratitude. After the official part of Kvarnhagkallen's premises, where this event took place, a joint social evening was held, where the participants were entertained by the singer Shaip Alia.
