Petrit Halilaj with exhibition at New Museum in New York

Prishtina, 28 September 2017- Birds can not be left aside in the Kosovar artist's exhibition, which opened yesterday in New York.

The New Museum has thus welcomed the work of Kosovar artist in an exhibition opening which has received the due attention in this art institution. We see the small sculptures of birds in the exhibition, writes KultPlus.

Petrit however has performed the role of the researcher before opening this exhibition. An archaeological excavation in Runik, the place where he was born, has brought to light 505 unknown objects. Petrit has taken various objects from Runik's residents to exhibit in New York, at the exhibition with curator Helga Helga Christoffersen.

The artist himself was present at the opening of the "RU" exhibition. Art critic Hettie Judan has said that RU actually symbolizes the RUnic, RUins, RUmination, RUction or RUmmage. At the exhibition space, a film reveals stories that have emerged from these objects excavated from the earth. Halilaj talks to the neighbours to discover the myths and history surrounding these objects.
